Experience
With twenty years of experience in large-firm practice in business and intellectual
property litigation, and the attentiveness and efficiency of a solo practitioner, David
Shough brings an unique perspective to the needs of businesses large and small.
Since beginning private practice in 1986, David has worked exclusively in the field
of complex business litigation. He began working in intellectual property litigation
in the 1986 with the West Publishing v. Mead Data Central star-pagination
copyright case and in patent cases in 1989. He practiced primarily in intellectual
property litigation since joining Killworth Gottman in 1995, where he was primary
litigation counsel, and continued that practice with Dinsmore & Shohl. Patent
cases that he has tried or prepared to settlement or decision include vehicle
control software, firefighter turnout gear, electroluminescent phosphors, dynamic
pump seals, electrical connectors, weightlifting garments, web press printing
blankets, blood analyzers, shared memory multi-processor platforms and software,
automatic airbag folding machines, moveable beds in travel trailers, and currency
validators. His experience also includes trademark infringement and dilution cases,
copyright infringement, and non-compete and trade secret litigation.
Not just a local lawyer, David's practice has taken him to courts from Boston to Los
Angeles, Washington, D.C. to San Francisco.
